Refreshingly, my son enjoys a documentary called Equator: Power of an Ocean, and because it is about life on the Galapagos Islands and Palmyra Atoll, he just simply calls it "The Galapagos Islands". It's a nice change of pace from the kiddie fare we're subjected to on a daily basis. We had had it on the DVR for months and decided that we would buy the DVD for him so we could erase it from the DVR.
He requested to watch it today. It wasn't long before he was throwing a fit about something. Then I realized what it was: leave it to LO to lament that the DVD doesn't have the commercials! "I want to watch the WHOLE Galapagos Islands!!!"
Frustrating? Very. Surprising? Not really. I clearly recall how he enjoyed talking about one commercial that had "Scary! Stealthy! Superbugs!" It just didn't dawn on me that he considered those just as much a part of the documentary as the coconut crabs and blue-footed boobies.
*Eh, all right... I know manatees don't live near the Equator!
Am I Distracted?
